CAIDS (Central Asian Institute for Development Studies) and the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University held a summer school seminar on August 23, 2021. The online event was dedicated to the presentation of the educational program “International Business and Strategic Trade Control” for potential students in this specialty. The educational program was developed supported by the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) within the framework of grant funding from the European Union.

The participants of the seminar were the holders of the state grant of the group of educational programs “Economics”. The moderator of the event, Askhat Nametsha, CEO of CAIDS, presented the structure and content of the educational program. In the presentation he talked about the relevance of the specialty, what competencies it gives, and in what areas graduates of the program can work.

Kamshat Saginbekova, researcher at the European Studies Unit at the University of Liege, Belgium, in her presentation on Strategic Trade Control focused on its importance in the modern economy. Galym Makhmejanov, scientific director of CAIDS, briefly informed the participants of the seminar about the course “Theory of Contracts in International Trade”. In his presentation, interesting cases of Kazakhstani companies in Strategic Trade Control were analyzed.

In the closing speech, the moderator of the event briefly spoke about the prospects of the master’s program and the future PhD program in this new specialty.
